Rural women's empowerment runs through everything NFI does: women make up the majority of the cooperative members, the field-school students, and the briquette production workforce.

By organising farmers into cooperatives and putting women at the centre of production and income, the hub strengthens food sovereignty while shifting who holds economic power in the community.
